Ayar Myanmar Unicode

Unicode is a computing industry standard for the consistent encoding, representation and handling of text expressed in most of the world’s writing systems including those used in Myanmar (Burma). Unicode’s success at unifying various character sets in a standard Universal Character Set has led to its widespread and predominant use in the internationalization and localization of computer software.

As the Unicode standard has been implemented in many recent technologies and modern operating systems, Myanmar users will greatly benefit by using Ayar Myanmar Unicode font, which was developed according to the Unicode Standard 6.0.

Myanmar Unicode technicians, font developers and graphic designers from Myanmar and elsewhere, and linguistic experts from Chiang Mai University, Thailand have contributed in developing Ayar Unicode font, which was created as an open source software and distributed free of charge.

Ayar Unicode fonts are produced in major Myanmar ethnic languages derived from Brahmi script and in various typefaces. Ayar Unicode group is currently developing other Unicode fonts for the rest of the ethnic languages that have their origin in Brahmi script.
